Houghtons of York are a well established family run business with a wealth of experience specialising in high quality architectural joinery and woodcarving for clients throughout the UK (and occasionally further afield).
With workshops based at Dunnington on the outskirts of the historic city of York we directly employ a team of exceptionally skilled Joiners and Woodcarvers that use traditional methods and materials to produce a diverse range of high quality bespoke commissioned work.
With strong links to other specialist businesses we frequently manage multi disciplinary projects incorporating crafts such as blacksmiths, glazing & stained glass, polishers, gilders & signwriters etc....
Our Core Values.
Key to everything we do as a company are our values;
These were decided upon in 2014 during a company wide meeting where the workforce as a whole were asked what they value most about the company.
From the most modest dwelling to the grandest of properties we care for each of our customers needs.
A large number of our clients are private homeowners who, through restoration and alterations are looking to improve and enhance the quality of their property.
Whilst we serve many that are local to our workshops in York our services are frequently required throughout the country - central London, Kent, Gloucestershire & Scotland and many places elsewhere.
We have a long established record of work to Listed Buildings, Ancient Monuments Parish Churches & Cathedrals - typically sites under the care of The National Trust, English Heritage, The Landmark Trust, Local Authorities together with many places of worship throughout the country. These have included -
Award Winning Joiners

Alongside this we also currently have a piece of our work displayed in the Soane museum in London.
